Test Analyst - ISTQB^® Certified Tester Advanced Level (CTAL-TA)

The ISTQB® Advanced Level Test Analyst 4.0 certification expands on the ISTQB Core syllabi to include business-oriented and user-centred aspects of advanced software testing. In this course, you will acquire the skills to analyse, design and execute tests in a structured manner throughout the entire software development lifecycle. You will learn about the roles and responsibilities of a Test Analyst within modern testing processes, gain a deeper understanding of best testing practices, and explore new testing techniques, including those useful for testing AI-Systems. The focus is on functional testing, supplemented by practical methods for testing non-functional requirements. In this way, you will help to achieve test objectives efficiently, identify risks at an early stage and ensure that customers’ business requirements are reliably met.

An Advanced Level Test Analyst Certified Tester will:

• support and perform appropriate testing based on the software development lifecycle in use.
• be able to apply a wide range of black-box test techniques and experience-based testing.
• add methods for testing AI‑based systems (dealing with test oracle problems, metamorphic testing, random testing).
• professionalise in test activities like risk-based regression testing, automated test design, and keyword-based testing.
• provide test conditions, test cases and further testware with the appropriate level of detail and quality.
• determine which types of functional testing are appropriate.
• contribute to non-functional testing like usability, adaptability, installability, or interoperability testing.
• improve the effectiveness of testing using defect prevention and structured quality improvement.
• improve the efficiency of the testing process by using tools.
• specify the requirements for test environments and test data.

Certified Test Analysts help to reduce the time required to create effective tests by taking a risk-based approach to test suite selection and by using suitable tools and automation approaches to support test design. 

The knowledge provided in this course reinforces strategies for error prevention, thereby enabling earlier feedback and better identification of quality risks.

The course contents are based on profound knowledge of the contents of the courses ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level. We therefore recommend to participate in the “ISTQB^® Certified Tester Foundation Level“ training course prior to attending, or to repeat the contents of the current version of the syllabus.

During registration, you can book your participation in the corresponding certification examination. For admission to the exam, you need the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate and at least 18 months of practical experience. We will send you the admission form with your registration confirmation for the training.
