Standardization roadmap for artificial intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important, in intelligent apps for smartphones, via AI-powered

Diagnoses in medicine, all the way to software for autonomous vehicles.

Since mid-2019, experts from industry and society - under the leadership of the German Institute for Standardization e.V. (DIN) and the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (DKE) in a joint project with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) - have been working on a roadmap for norms and standards in the field of AI.

AI experts from imbus AG were also involved in the creation of this AI standardization roadmap as expert authors, contributing their know-how on the systematic testing and safeguarding of AI systems. "We are pleased to have been able to contribute in this way to ensuring that critical AI systems function safely and reliably," said imbus expert Verena Dietrich.

The roadmap will include an overview of existing norms and standards relevant to AI systems, but will also provide recommendations for future standardization activities in this area.

The standardization roadmap will be presented on the occasion of the German government's Digital Summit at the end of November 2020.
