Keynote Speech by Thomas Rossner at the “iX Testing Days” during the TeamConf

Möhrendorf, April 2010 - At this year’s TeamConf, the user conference on application lifecycle management with Visual Studio taking place from 4th to 6th May 2010 in Munich, the subject of testing / quality assurance is going to play an important role.

For this reason, the TeamConf on 5th May will have its very own testing track. The track will be used to present solutions for end-to-end quality assurance and efficient testing for software development with the help of Visual Studio.

“Visual Studio 2010” is the new tool from Microsoft for comprehensive software testing and end-to-end quality assurance. To be in a position to provide customers with expert advice about how to use the new functions, Microsoft has chosen to work with imbus, a leading specialised service provider for software quality assurance and software testing in German-speaking markets. imbus Visual Studio Services rapidly connect Visual Studio users with the full productivity potential of the new “Visual Studio 2010”. imbus also provides professional assistance regarding the right way to use the test functions, both during their precise integration into the development process and during the customizing of the products. For more information, visitors can enquire directly to the imbus stand at the fair (stand no. 9).

The TeamConf testing track will also be the start of a parallel two-day event, “iX Testing Days”. This will be formally opened by a keynote speech on testing by Thomas Rossner, a member of imbus’s executive board, entitled “Professionalizing testing by setting up test centres”.

The focal point of the keynote speech is the development of testing over the last ten years and beyond, with the unambiguous conclusion that professionalizing the sector is urgently necessary, and also that there is already a commendable trend with more and more cases of such professionalized testing. The concept of test centres as dedicated services units has proven to be the best solution – although that said, this is still not an easy option. The keynote speech goes on to give an impression of the challenges facing software producers with respect to test centres, and also a view into the future: Quo Vadis in five to ten years.

In addition, there will, in the afternoon, be a report by Matthias Daigl, the Team Leader for process consultancy at imbus AG, on the first experience of working with the new testing tools from Microsoft. This user presentation will refer to first-hand experiences to show the extent to which promises made by Microsoft are realistic regarding their claims to fundamentally improve the workflow between testers and developers.

The “iX Testing Days” will take place in parallel to the TeamConf at the NH Hotel Munich-Dornach from 5th to 6th May 2010.
